Sacrifice

The blade cuts against her skin,
but the words go deeper.
She screams so loud,
but no one can hear her.

She questions her morality,
and all her beliefs.
'Why is something like this,
happening to me?'

'I didn't ask for this.
I didn't do anything wrong.
All I wanted was
to get along.'

It's a pattern,
that's gone on for ages.
One with a girl,
in the storybook pages.

That same girl,
throughout her life,
has chose one thing -
Sacrifice.
